7Day FPS Game Jam Game - Silver Lining

This Project was made durring the 2022 7day fps game jam by a team of 7. We managed to make 3 maps and 2 charcters. The Narrative, Levels and Audio was made by me. The Game is in a Mental hospital and the the player is trying to escape.

Retrospective

This project was very messy and I made many misstakes durring the time of development but I learned from them. This being a Game jam the team, had to make many decision quickly and did not have proper time for playtesting. We were all fairly new to unity and this was also one of first game jams. The Levels I made should have bneen playtested more and made more adapted to the player movement. The level that I think has more nailed the size is the second one. The first one if I were to rework it I would make adjustments of where the rooms are placed and make the map way smaller. Making it smaller will also incease the chance for the player to find all of the rooms rather than just skiping half of it.

Level 1

This is the first level, Thsi Level I wanted to experiment with corridors and having the player run around to get an feel for the movement and gameplay. The orignal desogn had way longer corridors. However due to time constraints I did not have time to make an proper iteration and make the map more compact. The rooms themself are not as much a problem it's mor ethe way they are placed and the distance between them.

The Second Level, here I wanted more to play with close quaters and very tight spaces were they players can use more cover to fight their way though. Part of this level is also to increase the intencity and have more enemies chasing you. This level did not have the same propblems as the prevoius level and I made sure to have less long corridors. From a narrative stand point this is where they player goes on rampage.

Level 3

The Final Level this level is the end of the demo game and has a combination of both prevoius levels but does not have the same propblem as the first elvel by their only being one long corridor being where the end of the game is. This Level is also suppose to show that the player has not been fighting solider's , rather been fighting against doctors and scientists. This Level also is a morgue where they process deceased pacients.

Audio

This was one of my first projects were I worked on audio and I mainly focused on having sounds for weapons, walking and UI sounds. I had to use pre made sounds but I slight altered them and implemented them in the engine.
